AREA OF APPLICATION
In Terrace waterproofing
Mother slab must be sound / mechanically surface prepared / grouted for cracks for repair of existing slab & re-waterproofing, the mother concrete slab must be stripped off its old treatment completely. Mechanical Methods must be adopted to prepare the surface and vacuum suck to clean off all loose particles & debris. In new construction, the terrace slab must be cast to the required slope for effective drain of the rain water. In situations where drain points are provided at one end only, suitable provision must be made to drain off the water. The slab must be thoroughly wetted with water to a state where it is saturated. But extra care must be taken to see that there is no stagnant or standing water. Any such water must be mopped off. As such, the concrete substrate to receive the treatment must be in a saturated surface dry condition, where the slab is thoroughly wet but dry to touch Mix the both the parts of YANKONIZE FINO GUARD with a slow speed (100 - 150 RPM) forced action mixer for big quantity of 15 kg, to achieve an even consistency. Consume the mixed material within 30 minutes at 300C. All the powder lumps formed during mixing must be hand-crushed completely. PLEASE DO NOT ADD WATER during mixing. For large application areas, take up a quantity that can be mixed and applied in 20 – 30 minutes.
ALWAYS ADD the POWDER component into the LIQUID and NOT the LIQUID into the Powder
With a brush, apply the first coat of YANKONIZE FINO GUARD over the prepared substrate. YANKONIZE FINO GUARD will cover 12 - 14 sft / kg of mixed material at a thickness of 500 - 600 microns in single coat.
Apply a 2nd coat of YANKONIZE FINO GUARD after 4 to 5 hrs of the 1st coat and achieve the total coating thickness of 1 mm in two coats.
In a demanding application such as a terrace, a minimum thickness of 1.5 mm in 3 coats must be achieved.
To achieve thickness of 1.5 mm to 2 mm a Polypropylene Fibre Net can be used and sandwiched in between the two coats of YANKONIZE FINO GUARD. Consult YANKONIZE for this specific use
This treatment shall be left as it is for atleast 72 hours, during which it will, air cure.
Sprinkling or ponding with water is not recommended. Avoid direct sunlight during the entire application. It will be ideal if applications are taken up from the evening onwards.
72 hours later, overlays as detailed below, for resistance to traffic and protection from physical damage to the YANKONIZE FINO GUARD coating, can be overlaid.* A cement-sand mortar screed at 15 - 25 mm thick. Brick Bat Coba treatment * Mud Faska *Lime Surki *Clay tiles, etc. Do not overlay concrete screed over YANKONIZE FINO GUARD
Must be protected from foot traffic.
Do not pond with water immediately after the 2nd coat. Allow it to air cure for atleast 72 hours
Pre-wetting of the substrate is essential before coating
Film thickness of 1 to 1.2 mm must be achieved in 2 coats. For a critical areas 1.5 mm thick film is recommended to be achieved in 3 coats
Must be applied on totally cured surface
Do not undertake application in hot sun (above 300C) and below 100C
Apply a neat bond coat of YANKONIZE POLYCRETE XL over the YANKONIZE
FINO GUARD film on vertical faces of parapet walls, to enable effective bond for the subsequent plaster application.
Part mixing is strictly prohibited, always mix the full pre measured quantity.
For Applications in Wet areas such as Sunken slabs /Toilets &Bathroom
Method of Application Precautions & Limitations
YANKONIZE FINO GUARD WATERPROOFING RANGE
Mother slab of a toilet or a sunken slab must be sound / mechanically surface prepared/grouted for cracks
For repair of existing slab & re-waterproofing, the mother concrete slab must stripped off its old treatment completely. Mechanical Methods must be adopted to prepare the surface, and vacuum suck to clean off all loose particles & debris.
Ask YANKONIZE for detailed specification on waterproofing repair treatment on 'old construction'
The slab must be thoroughly wetted with water to a state where it is saturated. But extra care must be taken to see that there is no stagnant or standing water. Any such water must be mopped off. As such, the concrete substrate to receive the treatment must be in a Saturated Surface Dry Condition.
Mix the 2 different parts of YANKONIZE FINO GUARD with a slow speed (100 - 150 RPM) forced action mixer for a big quantity of 15 kg, to achieve an even consistency. All the powder lumps formed during mixing must be hand crushed completely.
PLEASE DO NOT ADD WATER during mixing. Please ensure that the mixed material is consumed within 30 minutes at 300C. For large application areas, take up a quantity that can be mixed and applied in 20 - 30 minutes. ALWAYS ADD the POWDER component into the LIQUID and NOT the LIQUID into the Powder
With a brush, apply the first coat of YANKONIZE FINO GUARD over the surface. YANKONIZE FINO GUARD will cover 12 - 14 sft / kg of mixed material at a thickness of 500 – 600 microns.
When this layer is dry after 4 - 6 hours, brushes apply a second coat of YANKONIZE FINO GUARD over the first in the manner detailed above. The total thickness of 1 to 1.2 mm of this waterproofing will be achieved in 2 coats
This treatment shall be left as it is for atleast 72 hours, during which it will air cure. Sprinkling of water or ponding with water is not recommended. Avoid direct sunlight during the entire application.
For horizontal applications, a 10 - 15 mm cement sand mortar screed in 1: 3 shall be laid over this coating, which essentially provides protection for further plumbing & sanitation work.
In vertical applications, a neat bond coat of YANKONIZE POLYCRETE XL shall be applied over a dry FINO GUARD film coat. When this coat has achieved a tacky state, plastering work shall be done. After sufficient curing, plumbing and relevant sanitation work can be started.
The RCC walls and the base slab of swimming pools must be cured for 28 days minimum before applying YANKONIZE FINO GUARD. The condition of walls and base slab must be assessed carefully for any irregularities and cavities. All the old joints must be inspected for its water tightness. If required, inject cement slurry admixed with YANKONIZE GROUTEXO into the cold joints.
Prepare the surface carefully to receive the first coat of YANKONIZE FINO GUARD. All the loose particles and debris must be removed with the help of wire brush. The grouting holes must be finished to level and ensure that they are properly sealed with suitable material.
The entire area must be thoroughly wetted with water to a state where it is saturated. But extra care must be taken to see that there is no stagnant or standing water. Any such water must be mopped off. As such, the concrete substrate to receive the treatment must be in a Saturated Surface Dry Condition.

ALWAYS ADD the POWDER component into the LIQUID and NOT the LIQUID into the powder
Over the properly pre-wetted surface, apply first coat of YANKONIZE FINO GUARD at a thickness of 500-600 microns and allow it dry for 5-6 hours. Apply the 2 coats at the same thickness. The total applied thickness should be of minimum 1.5 mm in three coats.
Allow each coat to dry sufficiently before applying next coat.
Allow YANKONIZE FINO GUARD film to air cure for atleast 72 hours.
Tiling work can be started after initial 72 hours of curing. Tiling work can be done using tile fixing adhesive, YANKONIZE TILEX - XL range for excellent results.
For tiles to be fixed with conventional methods with neat cement paste, a bond coat of YANKONIZE POLYCRETE XL for an excellent bond with the cement paste to the FINO GUARD film
Must be protected from foot traffic
Do not pond with water immediately after the 2nd coat. Allow it to air cure for atleast 72 hours
